NOSH Summer Smoothies

 

Smoothies are a wonderful treat on a hot summer day! They are also a great meal replacement, and a nice start to your day. Adding leafy greens along with fruit increases the amount of daily nutrients you are putting into your body, and is especially helpful if you’re not a fan of vegetables.

 

Frozen fruit is also a good option because it will make your smoothies cold without having to add ice! Try cutting up fresh fruit and freezing it ahead of time to avoid any added sugars.  Bananas are especially great for this tip!

 

Smoothie Ingredients

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS (for all 3 recipes): Place all contents into a large blender, cover, and blend until smooth. Serve in a large glass and enjoy!

 

HAWAII FIVE-OH!

Hawaii-Five-O-ingredients

1/4 cup soy milk
1/2 cup frozen tropical fruit (pineapple & mango)
1 banana peeled & sliced
1/4 cup orange juice
1 cup spinach leaves

THE KALE-IFORNIA

 

 

Kale-ifornia in Blender

1/2 cup almond milk (or try flax or hemp milk – great alternatives if you have a nut allergy)
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1 banana peeled & sliced
1 cup kale leaves (baby kale is the most tender)
2 tablespoons almond butter

 

THE CHA-CHA-CHIA!

 

 

Chia Smoothie

1 banana, peeled & sliced
4-6 frozen or fresh strawberries
1/2 cup low fat milk or soy milk
3 tbsps Greek yogurt (vanilla preferred, but you can use your favorite flavor to liven thing up!)
1 tbsp chia seeds as toppings

Pro tip: try adding almond or peanut butter for added protein and a nuttier flavor!
